Exploring Emotional Intelligence Workshop


Grade 1 - 3

Why this workshop is important

In this workshop your child will learn the necessary skills required to apply the concept of emotional intelligence at an age appropriate level. Recent studies in the field of emotional intelligence confirmed that EQ can indeed be learned and improved, it is a vital factor in success, how we relate to ourselves and others as well as out mental health.
Some of the skills your child will learn during this workshop from the basis of EQ, assisting them with the following:
  • Dealing better with change and improve adaptation skills;
  • Develop self-awareness in order to be able to recognize what they are good at, what they still need to work on;
  • The importance of perseverance;
  • The importance of taking responsibility for your own happiness;
  • Being empathetic and how relating to other people can hold many benefits;
  • The role, importance and impact of emotions.

Grade 4 - 7

Emotional intelligence or the life-changing, world-changing skill as we like to call it basically means that you know how to be smart with your feelings. EQ is a skill which can be learned and has the ability to assist us in increasing our awareness, make better choices and live with purpose.

In this workshop your child will learn more about:
  • Using the correct thinking skills to regulate feelings effectively;
  • Using emotions to focus and motivate oneself;
  • Creating and leveraging the power of optimism;
  • Conscious and deliberate decision making;
  • Using empathy to understand and influence others;
  • Improving confidence;
  • Dealing with stress and anxiety;
  • Being more resilient;

Grade 8 - 9

Emotional Intelligence ideas and skills taught in this course include:
  • Perseverance and being resilient despite difficulties or challenges;
  • Making sense of one’s feelings and reacting to them appropriately;
  • The importance of delayed gratification;
  • Personal strengths identification and improvement;
  • Resilience and its dependence on a healthy self-esteem;
  • The importance of emotional self-care.

Grade 10 - 12

In the High School years of a child it is easy for academics to become the most important thing for parents and teens. However, it is important to still prioritise continuous emotional intelligence. Teens with a higher level of emotional intelligence will be better equipped to deal with their emotions, including the stress and anxiety which is often associated with academic performance and requirements. Studies have shown that kids with a higher emotional intelligence tend to do better in school and has the ability to pay attention, stay motivated and get along better with their peers and teachers.
